China marks 6.9 million NEVs sold over 2022
Total sales of New Energy Vehicles in 2022 amounted to 6.887 million units. This is according to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and represents an increase of 93.4 per cent compared to 2021.

Volkswagen increased EV deliveries in 2022 by 23.6%
The Volkswagen brand delivered around 330,000 electric cars in 2022, 23.6 per cent more than in the previous year. With a total of around 4.56 million vehicles sold in 2022, the BEV share was therefore around 7.2 per cent. The best-selling electric VW worldwide and in their home market was the ID.4.

Mercedes doubled EV sales over 2022
Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars delivered 117,800 battery-electric cars in 2022. Thanks to a strong final quarter, the Stuttgart-based company was able to more than double its electric car deliveries compared to the previous year.

BMW delivered over 200,000 electric cars in 2022
In 2022, the BMW Group sold a total of 215,755 fully electric vehicles from the BMW and Mini brands, more than twice as many as in 2021. The Group was also able to hand over the 500,000th fully electric vehicle to customers by the end of 2022.

Polestar exceeds delivery targets for 2022
Polestar delivered about 21,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2022, exceeding its reduced sales target of 50,000 electric cars for the full year 2022. According to the manufacturer’s preliminary figures, Polestar sold 51,500 cars last year.

BYD & UzAuto to produce EVs in Uzbekistan
BYD has announced a production facility for electric cars and plug-in hybrids in Uzbekistan. The facility will be established as part of a joint venture with Uzavtosanoat JSC (UzAuto) to produce BYD’s best-selling new energy vehicles, including plug-in hybrids and related components.

Berlin fire brigade goes hybrid
The Berlin Fire Brigade is procuring the next electrified emergency vehicles from Rosenbauer. The order includes, among other things, four units of the hybrid fire-fighting vehicle “Revolutionary Technology” (RT) in the Berlin configuration as eLHF. Flanders considers banning combustion vehicles from 2035

Mazda raises e-mobility targets
Mazda has raised its sales target for all-electric cars to between 25 and 40 per cent of total sales by 2030, up from 25 per cent previously. To advance the electrification of its vehicles, the Japanese carmaker plans to invest 1.5 trillion yen (10.3 billion euros) with its partners.

Norwegian EV sales back up from September
In Norway, 9,727 electric cars were newly registered in October, giving them a market share of 77.5 per cent of the country’s new passenger car registrations. In addition, there were 1,126 plug-in hybrids. The VW ID.4 topped the model ranking in October with 1,014 registrations.

The EU states and the European Parliament have reached a political agreement on stricter CO2 emission standards for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, sealing the end for new cars with combustion engines from 2035. What impact the backdoor for e-fuels will have is currently unclear.

DB Schenker pre-orders 2,000 eTrailers from Trailer Dynamics
In Germany, DB Schenker has signed a cooperation agreement with Trailer Dynamics. The logistics service provider will gradually roll out 2,000 eTrailers on different tractors in its European network from 2024 onwards. The trailers can be equipped with batteries of 300 kWh, 450 kWh or 600 kWh, depending on requirements.
