Western Australia starts subsidies + road tax for EVs

The Western Australian government has launched the Clean Energy Car Fund doted with almost $60 million (AUS – almost 40 million euros). This includes rebates for the purchase of battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and charging infrastructure, but also an extra road tax for drivers of these vehicles.

7,207 new battery-electric cars registered in Norway over April

In Norway, 7,207 new electric passenger cars were registered in April, which corresponds to a share of 74.1 per cent among all new passenger car registrations for the month. In addition, 982 new plug-in hybrids were registered. In the model ranking, none of the usual vehicles were ahead in April.

BMW inaugruates extension of Chinese plant

The Chinese joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) has inaugurated the expansion of its Dadong plant in the city of Shenyang, China. With the completion of the conversion measures, the plant will be able to flexibly produce vehicles with combustion engines, plug-in hybrids or fully electric drive systems.

Vienna to stop buying combustion vehicles from 2025

The City of Vienna will no longer procure any new petrol or diesel vehicles for the municipal fleet from 2025 at the latest. Possible exceptions apply to certain special vehicles for which no CO2-free alternatives are available by then.

Mercedes wants to halve their CO2 footprint by 2030

Mercedes-Benz aims to reduce CO2 emissions per passenger car by more than half over the entire life cycle by the end of this decade compared to 2020. The main levers for this are electric cars charged with green electricity, better batteries, recycled materials and the use of renewable energies in production.

Honda to release 30 electrified models by 2030

Italy to invest €650 million per year to lower emissions

The Italian government is allocating 650 million euros annually for 2022, 2023 and 2024 for incentives to purchase electrified and low-emission vehicles. Private individuals can receive a subsidy of 3,000 euros for the purchase of new electric cars. Small and medium-sized enterprises will also be supported.

Norway registered 13,983 new BEVs in March

A total of 13,983 new electric passenger cars were registered in March in Norway. This corresponds to a market share of 86.1 per cent of all new passenger car registrations in the month. In addition, there were 947 new plug-in hybrids. In terms of models, Tesla dominated in March.

BYD quits the combustion engine

BYD has announced they will only produce electric cars and plug-in hybrids from now on. Without much notice, the Chinese manufacturer has discontinued the production of petrol cars: The last pure combustion engine apparently rolled off the production line in February.
