Stadler orders Ballard H2 fuel cell systems for US trains

Ballard Power Systems has received an order from Stadler Rail to supply six 100 kW Fcmove-HD+ fuel cell modules to power the first hydrogen train in the US. The train is expected to enter service in San Bernardino, California, in 2024 and will seat over 100 passengers.

Hermes orders 10 Solaris e-buses in the Netherlands

The Polish bus manufacturer Solaris has signed a contract with the Dutch transport company Hermes for the delivery of ten Trollino 18s. The MetroStyle trolleybuses are scheduled to arrive in the city of Arnhem in the first half of 2024.

Connect Bus orders 47 Ebusco e-buses for Sweden

Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has been contracted by Connect Bus to supply 47 electric buses for use in Sweden. The buses are to be delivered at the end of 2023 and operated by the public transport service Länstrafiken Kronoberg in Växjö, Sweden.

50 ADL double-decker e-buses for Manchester area

British bus builder Alexander Dennis (ADL) has received an order for 50 electric double-decker buses from Transport for Greater Manchester. The buses are planned for the first phase of the Bee Network bus system that is due to launch in Wigan and Bolton in September 2023.

Karsan presents hydrogen bus at the IAA

The Turkish bus manufacturer Karsan presented its first hydrogen model at the IAA Transportation. The e-ATA Hydrogen is a 12-metre bus for up to 95 passengers (40 seats) and a range of over 500 kilometres.

Oslo set to welcome 76 Ebusco electric buses with Nobina

The Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has received another order from the Nordic public transport operator Nobina, this time for Norway. The order is for 76 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses, which will be delivered at the end of 2023 and will be used in the Oslo area.

Hydrogen train network goes live in Germany

In the German state of Lower Saxony, the world’s first network with hydrogen fuel cell trains in passenger service has now gone into operation. On the route between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude, 14 hydrogen-powered Coradia iLint regional trains are now in operation, replacing 15 diesel trains.

Jakarta to convert 3000 diesel buses to electric

The Indonesian public transport operator Transjakarta has started a project to convert existing diesel buses to electric drive. For this purpose, the bus operator in the Indonesian capital Jakarta has signed an agreement with VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas and Equipmake. Initially, a number of buses will be converted as prototypes to be tested by Transjakarta.

Tata Motors wins tenders for 2,000 e-buses, again

Tata Motors has received two major orders for electric buses in India, following an earlier purchase from the Delhi Transport Corporation. The West Bengal Transport Corporation and the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation expect a total of 2,000 electric buses.

FTA awards grants for 1,100 electric buses in the USA

In the USA, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced $1.66 billion in grants that will benefit transit agencies, territories and states to modernise their bus fleets and facilities. The agency has released a list of 150 projects that will receive funding.

Taipeh to add 250 electric buses by end of 2023

In Taiwan, the Chung-Shin Bus Group will put 150 all-electric buses into operation in the capital Taipei by the end of this year, equipped with Danfoss Editron drives. Another 100 electric buses with Danfoss drives are scheduled to follow in 2023.

BYD to deliver 15 electric buses to Madrid

BYD has just revealed another electric bus order from Spain. Empresa de Blas y Cia, the Spanish subsidiary of the German rail transport company Arriva, has ordered 15 electric low-floor buses from BYD, twelve of which are 12-metre and three 13-metre vehicles. They are to be used in Alcorcón, a suburb of Madrid, from 2023.

20 electric Solaris buses ordered for Kraków

In Poland, Solaris has received another electric bus order from Kraków. The public transport company MPK Kraków ordered 20 electric buses from the Polish manufacturer: seven articulated Urbino 18 Electric buses and 13 Urbino 12 Electric solo buses. The vehicles are to be delivered in one year.

Nobina orders another 19 Ebusco electric buses

Nordic public transport group Nobina has ordered more electric buses from Ebusco. The 19 Ebusco 3.0 12-metre electric buses on order are to be used by the Danish transport company Midtrafik in and around Horsens. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2023.

The English bus manufacturer Mellor has entered into a sales partnership for its battery-electric buses in Germany and Austria. The Hamburg-based company Jebsen & Jessen Industrial Solutions will take over the sales and service of Mellor’s electric buses in both countries.

Wiesbaden receives its 100th electric bus

ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft in Wiesbaden has taken delivery of its 100th Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric bus. The delivery from Daimler Buses is part of an order of 56 units placed three years ago, the order volume of which has since increased to 120 electric buses.

Karsan begins deliveries in North America

A Karsan e-Jest electric minibus has been delivered to the Canadian city of Saint John in cooperation with Karsan’s distributor Damera. A fleet of six vehicles will start offering service in Saint John this September.
