VW expands networks & offers fixed prices
The Volkswagen Group is launching a charging and energy campaign. The volume brands Volkswagen, Cupra/Seat and ŠKODA are now to offer fixed kilowatt-hour prices throughout the entire charging network. At the same time, the Group is further expanding its European charging network.

Fastned marks over a million charging sessions in 2021
The Dutch fast-charging provider Fastned recorded 70 per cent more charging transactions at its stations last year, breaking the one million charging transactions mark in one year. Fastned continues to be profitable in its operating business.

Charge myHyundai now using 100% green energy
Hyundai now relies entirely on renewable energies for its Charge myHyundai service with immediate effect. Using Digital Charging Solutions’ (DCS) green charging option, the company will ensure all charging activity is “counteracted” by 100 per cent wind energy.

In the USA, BMW is offering iX and i4 drivers two years of free fast charging at Electrify America’s more than 3,000 public charging stations. This covers up to 30 minutes of free fast charging per charging session.

Free to X & Hubject cooperate on HPC in Italy
Hubject has announced a cooperation with Free To X, a startup of Autostrade per l’Italia Group founded in March 2021. Free To X says it will extend its HPC infrastructure along Italian highways to a large number of electric car drivers within Hubject’s Intercharge network.

Electric Circuit and ChargePoint agree roaming deal
The Electric Circuit, a Canadian EV charging network, and US-based ChargePoint have made a roaming deal. Electric Circuit members will get access to an additional 40,000 charging stations while ChargePoint members will be able to access all 3,300 Electric Circuit charging stations in Canada.

Hubject starts automatic invoice management
Hubject has introduced invoice management as part of its eRoaming services. The new ‘Invoice Management’ function should simplify – ie. automate – processes for over 1,000 B2B partners. Until now, the manual transfer of charging data has still been necessary in some cases.

Enel X Romania joins Hubject network
Charging infrastructure specialist Enel X Romania has joined the Hubject network. Specifically, over 160 charging points from Enel X in Romania will become part of Hubject’s Intercharge roaming platform. Until now, access to Enel X Romania’s charging points was only possible via the JuicePass app.

Volvo C40 Recharge to launch in the US this year
Volvo Cars has opened the order books online for the C40 Recharge at an MSRP of $58,750 in the United States before tax credits. Vehicle production will begin in Ghent, Belgium, this autumn, with the first US deliveries being set for Q4 2021.

Benelux countries to ensure charging across borders
To promote cross-border electric driving and charging, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (so-called Benelux countries) have established the joint service IDRO (Benelux ID Registration Organisation). IDRO is supposed to help ensure that national borders are not an obstacle to charging.

Blink Charging has acquired the European EV charging operator Blue Corner N.V., based in Antwerp, Belgium. The acquisition adds 7,071 charging ports to Blink’s portfolio across four countries in Western Europe – Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and France.
