E-mobility investments revealed in the USA

A week after US President Joe Biden unveiled his two-trillion-dollar investment plan, details are emerging about the e-mobility investments it includes. A whopping $100 billion is to go towards purchase subsidies for electric cars and $15 billion towards building 500,000 charging stations.

Romania doubles 2021 EV subsidy budget

The Romanian Ministry of Environment is doubling the budget for its Rabla Plus programme this year, which offers subsidies for the purchase of electric and hybrid cars, to the equivalent of around 82 million euros.

Peugeot adapts UK EV pricing to new PiCG

Peugeot UK has reduced list prices across the entire e-2008 range to ensure customers can continue to benefit from the Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG). A reduction of £450 on all versions mean Active Premium, Allure and Allure Premium models remain eligible for the new grant.

Luxembourg links EV subsidies to consumption

The government of Luxembourg has extended its subsidy programme for electric vehicles by another twelve months until 31 March 2022. The purchase premium for pure electric cars will in future be linked to electricity consumption. For plug-in hybrids, support will only be available until the end of the year.

UK further cuts down Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG)

The British government has cut its subsidies to purchase electric cars by 500 pounds per vehicle with immediate effect. It also lowered the price cap for eligible electric cars from £50,000 by £15,000 to now £35,000.

UK gov’ pledges £3Bn in full bus market “shake-up”

The British government today issued a major new bus strategy with a framework for “enhanced local partnerships” and a pledge to invest £3Bn (about €3.5Bn). The three-billion-pound package includes investments in 4,000 greener buses powered by electricity and hydrogen.

Canada invests in e-buses and infrastructure

Between 2021 and 2026, the Canadian government wants to invest a total of 2.75 billion dollars (around 1.8 billion euros) in the promotion of all-electric buses, including school buses and their charging infrastructure. The measure is part of a public transport funding offensive.

Spain increases electric mobility subsidies

The Spanish government has expanded the budget for its Moves II subsidy programme from 100 to 120 million euros. In the course of the programme, the purchase of electric cars will be subsidised by up to 5,500 euros. The following programme Moves III will be endowed with at least 400 million euros.

Pipistrel developing emissions-free regional aircraft

Slovenian aircraft manufacturer Pipistrel is working on a zero-emission regional aircraft with 20 seats, which should be available between 2028 and 2030. The Miniliner concept now unveiled could fly on hydrogen, although Pipistrel says it is still evaluating various propulsion solutions.

France funds fast-charging sites with €100Mn
