DriveNow expands: London car-sharers can get their hands on 20 additional BMW i3. The DriveNow fleet now counts 50 electric cars in the British capital. In Stockholm, the joint service of BMW and Sixt will start on October 20 with 260 conventional cars and Minis. The i3 is to be added at a later date.

Second life: The E-Stor concept is an energy buffer system using second-life EV batteries for charging stations. Jointly developed by Future Transport Systems and Ricardo, E-Stor can absorb surplus energy and distribute it at peak times thus relaxing the grid.
Park & Charge: The first EV charging station in Moscow has been installed at a parking space. Another 50 are to follow within this year, while the Russian capital plans to erect a total of 150 by the end of 2016.
Women e-trikes: 30 three-wheeled electric vehicles with female drivers only can be hired at hot spots in New Delhi. With the Smart-E service, the Indian city hopes to make the last mile more sustainable and safer as the EVs come with CCTV, GPS and SOS. An app is in the making.
Solar demo: In an attempt to test the power of solar in Wisconsin’s climate, Alliant Energy is launching a solar demonstration project. Part of the programme is the installation of 13 EV charging stations by Telefonix at Alliant’s headquarters. However, the stations are powered by the building.

Berlin charging lights for Chengdu: Berlin-based Ebee Smart Technologies has signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese Rongchen Investment to form a joint venture in Chengdu. The JV is to adapt Ebee´s technology for turning street lights into charging points. First installations in public and semi-public spaces are set for this year.
Google to go Uber? A report by Bloomberg suggests that the internet company plans to set up its own ride-hailing service, most likely in conjunction with its driverless car project. So maybe we will see the small self-driving electric Google cars on the roads soon.
My Electric Avenue exceeds its targets as more than 200 participants take part. Initially, only ten neighbourhoods with ten people each leasing a Nissan Leaf were to be recruited. The initiative aims to see if a “charge cluster” poses a problem for the grid and how to manage peak loads.

Minnesota electrifies: The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will receive a 6,343,890-dollar grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The money is intended to buy six electric buses by Proterra to replace six diesel buses. Covered as well is the cost for the erection of two fast-charge stations on route.
PowerPosts: Telefonix, manufacturer of PowerPost commercial EV charging stations, now installed ten such stations at Melink Corporation’s energy-efficient HQ in a suburb of Cincinnati. Melink offers free charging during the day and sees the installation as an important step towards workplace charging.

Electrified shuttle service: BMW and hotel chain Fairmont in Beijing have signed cooperation. For the coming three months, hotel guests can use the i3-shuttles for a ride to the airport or to tour parts of the city.
Seeing electric: The city of York has electrified its diesel sightseeing buses. Moreover, it claims to now have the only double-decker gone electric worldwide. The was converted by Sheffield-based Magtec and uses lithium-ion batteries that allow for all-day operation without recharging.
No electric Car2go for Copenhagen: The carsharing service will kick-off in the Danish capital on September 17th. It is the first Scandinavian city to get Daimler’s carsharing scheme. Unfortunately, the 200 Smart cars will all be petrol-powered. Too bad, since Copenhagen has quite some charging infrastructure.
Two charging points for Burlingame: The Californian city will soon get two dual cord Level-2 EV charging stations by ChargePoint. These will be installed by REJ Electric on city-owned property, in the city’s downtown area. Because there was no power available at the selected site, the installation costs total 49,363 dollars.
Telefonix focuses efficiency: The company’s L2 PowerPost has now received UL approval. It is a low-current Level-2 charging station, designed especially for commercial use and long-term parking. It is also said to be more cost efficient than other stations, since it only charges with 20 amps, which allows for the installation of more stations with a given electrical supply.

Making EVs a state matter? Apparently, the Chinese government wants take subsidy policies for cars with alternative drivetrains in its own hand, putting an end to specialty rules created at the local level. The announcement was made by the country’s Ministry for Industry and Technology (MIT), after sitting down with industry leaders to discuss how to spur market growth in the sector.
Rolling it up: The Telefonix ‘L1 PowerPost electric vehicle charging station’ is the first commercial charger featuring the company’s patented retractable cord reel technology. Two of these are currently installed at the Denver Airport and in Chicago. Telefonix had exhibited its technology at the International Parking Institute (IPI) Conference and Expo over the past days.
Alternative drives climb UK market ladder: As of the end of May, they hold a 1.8 market share, compared to 1.1 percent in May of last year. The biggest change could be seen in the sales of hybrid vehicles combining diesel and electric motors. Sales here rose 309.1% compared to the same month last year.
Australian-Chinese connection: Together, Australia’s Tritium and China’s SSE presented their Veefil Electric Vehicle Fast Charger at the InterSolar in Germany. The cost-efficient charger is easy to install and can give an EV an extra 50 miles (80.47 km) of range in just 10 minutes, says the company.
