Worldwide sales of hybrid vehicles dropped 9 percent in the first eight months of this year, compared to sales during the same period in 2013. In the U.S. alone, five percent fewer hybrids left dealership lots. The reasons are dropping petrol prices and the rise of more efficient petrol-powered cars.
