E-Car333EV from Belgium: The E-Car333 by Xavier Van Der Stappen is manufactured in Belgium and made only out recycled materials. The three-wheeler is said to have a 300 km range and become available in 2016. The starting price is set at 20,000 euros (22,400 dollars).

DoE increases investments: The U.S. Department of Energy says it earmarked 55.8 million dollars in funding for “cutting-edge vehicle technologies” such as better batteries and alternative drivetrains. Another 35 million dollars have been reserved for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

New research centre: The California Energy Commission will allocate 1.2 million dollars for a new facility that will research alternative fuels and vehicle technologies. The proposed center must be open to the public and must support local agencies and businesses.

Growth market: According to TechNavio analysts, the worldwide market for lithium iron phosphate batteries will grow up to 20 percent anually until 2019. The driving force is a growing demand from China.
