Better range with silicon carbide chip from Bosch

Bosch plans to produce new silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors at its Reutlingen plant. The company says that, in comparison to regular silicon chips, SiC chips increase electrical conductivity and can push up an electric vehicle’s range by six per cent.

Torqeedo has developed a fully electric propulsion system for the Canadian boatbuilder Templar Marine. The Torqeedo drive for the new Templar C26 Cruiser consists of a Cruise 10.0 motor driven by six lithium-ion batteries.

New plants in China for SK Innovation and CATL

The South Korean battery cell manufacturer SK Innovation has established a joint venture with the Chinese battery specialist EVE Energy to set up its second production facility in China for electric car batteries. CATL is also planning another factory.

BJEV plans to build 3,000 battery swapping stations

BJEV, the electric car subsidiary of the Chinese manufacturer BAIC, plans to invest ten billion yuan (1.28 billion euros) in the construction of 3,000 battery changing stations. According to BJEV President Ma Fanglie, the goal is to supply half a million electric vehicles with fresh batteries by the end of 2022.

CATL reveals new cell-to-pack platform at IAA
