UK: 17MW virtual power plant to utilise EV batteries

London-based Moixa plans to develop a virtual power plant (VPP) that will combine solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles. The VPP could include hundreds of households, schools and other facilities in southern England and Moixa aims to eventually scale the network up to 17 MW.

Nikkei suggested yesterday, that Panasonic and Tesla’s plans to increase production capacity for battery cells at Gigafactory 1 have been put on ice due to financial problems at Tesla and uncertainties about future demand. India: 95% of e-scooters excluded from new subsidies

Approximately 95% of the electric scooters in India do not qualify for the subsidies of the new FAME II funding programme. This is partly due to the batteries: Almost 90% of e-scooters that were previously subsidized by FAME-I used lead-acid batteries.

VinFast & LG Chem launch battery joint venture

VinFast has established a joint venture with LG Chem to produce battery packs for the Vietnamese start-up’s electric scooters and future electric cars. The two companies already signed a letter of intent in September 2018 to cooperate on EV batteries.

BMW is stocking up staff for electrification
