“Potentially you could think about battery electric vehicles being used in smaller vehicles and lighter vehicles. Then some of the larger, heavier vehicles where it’s really difficult, at least with today’s technology to get enough batteries on board. Maybe that’s the realm of fuel cells.”
GM’s chief technology officer Jon Lauckner believes that battery and fuel cell technologies can coexist on the road, depending on the progress in terms of technological development.
“Apple’s latest project is too exciting to pass up. I think it will change the landscape and give Tesla a run for its money.”
An unnamed Apple employee here suggests that the smartphone and tablet maker has an electric car project in the pipeline. Rumours had been circulating for some time already.
