Hanover pedals: As part of the showcase project for electric mobility, the German city now offers 52 pedelecs for hire. Until the end of the testing phase in June 2016, they can even be used for free. There are three rental stations located in Hanover, and the city hopes to attract more people to use bikes instead of their car.

New online EV hire platform: Solar Power Inc. (SPI) has acquired 60 percent of shares of Beijing Yiwei New Energy Technology Development Company (Yiwei) for 30bn yuan (4,7bn dollars). They will set up an online platform for electric car hire, as well as EV charging infrastructure in Chinese cities.

Tesla lottery ticket: According to Tech in Asia, the Californian EV maker will be added to the list of preferred vehicles in the license plate lottery in Beijing. Only winners will receive license plates and until now, Tesla was in the pool with combustion engine cars.

Combustion-free zone: The Bogor Institute of Agriculture in Indonesia will no longer allow combustion engine vehicles on its campus. Instead, students can use one of 44 electric cars or 1,500 bikes provided on campus. Usage is not free and can be paid electronically.

Easy access to hybrids and EVs: Australian peer-to-peer rental start-up DriveMyCar will now lease cars to the business sector in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, including hybrid and electric vehicles. The company essentially provides businesses with access to under-utilised cars of its members.
