VW-Budd-eVW to electrify China: Volkswagen has laid out a three-step strategy to electrify the Chinese market by investing 4bn euros per year. In the current phase, plug-in hybrid and electric models are being imported. Next, PHEVs will be produced directly in China, starting with the Audi A6. The last phase will see VW models based on the MQB platform be built in China before 2020. At the same time, the MEB platform will be developed together with JV partners SAIV and FAW. Overall, China will see up to 15 VW PHEV and EV models within the next three to five years.
