VW and JV partners invest €15Bn in e-mobility in China

Volkswagen will invest around 15 billion euros in electric mobility in China by 2024 with its three joint venture partners SAIC, FAW and JAC. This comes in addition to the €33Bn the Group had already announced in 2019 for the global development of the electric car sector.

The first customers in the UK have now received their ID.3 1st Editions. Retailers across the country officially started delivery alongside a Grand Handover event at Volkswagen Cambridge that received the first MEB electric cars.

VW confirms Zellmer as new board member

Jürgen Stackmann, a member of the Board of Management of the VW brand, has left the Volkswagen Group with immediate effect. As of 15 September, the new Board Member for Sales is now Klaus Zellmer, previously head of Porsche Cars North America.

VW partner QuantumScape hits the US stock market

The solid-state battery specialist and Volkswagen partner QuantumScape went public on the US stock exchange. The company has agreed on a merger with the investment company Kensington Capital Acquisition. The shares will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “QS”.

BMW expands i3 production while VW looks to the e-Golf

In Germany, the increased purchase premium is boosting demand for electric cars. BMW and VW have now responded by expanding production of the i3 in Leipzig, while the VW e-Golf will continue to be built in Dresden until Christmas, contrary to initial plans.

VW’s 1.22 billion euro battery deal with Wanxiang A123

According to so far unconfirmed information from China, Volkswagen has chosen Wanxiang A123 as another battery cell supplier for its electric cars. Apparently, Volkswagen plans to purchase at least ten billion yuan (1.22 billion euros) worth of batteries.
