Electrify Canada plans 20 fast-charging stations

The Canadian arm of Volkswagen’s dieselgate subsidiary Electrify America is set to expand its nation-wide EV charging network with over 20 installations planned to roll out at select Canadian Tire retail locations across Canada.

Electrify America now offers Level 2 EV home charger

The VW charging infrastructure subsidiary Electrify America now offers a home charging station for electric cars. The ‘Electrify America Electric Vehicle Home Charger’ features a charging power of up to 7.6kW and is available on Amazon for $499.

Audi Q4 e-tron concept to be made in Zwickau

Audi has just officially confirmed that the production model of the Audi Q4 e-tron concept will roll off production lines at Volkswagen’s Zwickau plant. There are also indications that there could be a sportier version of the Q4 and a saloon among Audi’s other planned MEB models.

JAC Volkswagen launches the SOL electric SUV

After a delay, the Chinese joint venture JAC Volkswagen has started the sale of the first model of its electric car brand SOL. The E20X was supposed to come onto the market last year and is now available at prices starting at around 16,450 euros after subsidies.

FAW-VW make preparations to produce e-tron in China

Starting next year, the Audi e-tron will be produced for the Chinese market by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture at the Changchun plant. Between 45,000 and 50,000 units per year are planned. Another Audi electric model to be produced in China is the e-tron Sportback.

Ford to build more electric cars on VW’s MEB basis

VW is negotiating to develop a second MEB-based electric car as part of the cooperation with Ford, which was sealed in July. The original agreement provided for Ford to purchase 600,000 MEB kits from Volkswagen for its first own model. Now it could become significantly more.

Series version VW ID.Crozz to become ID.4

With the ID.3 just out, Volkswagen had further announcements to make at the IAA and said the VW ID. Crozz concept will be called ID.4 once it hits the markets in series. The model is destined for the US first next year and will be the first MEB-based model in the USA.

Enel completes fast-charging grid EVA+ in Italy & Austria

Together with its automotive partners, Enel has completed the construction of all 200 fast-charging stations of EU project EVA+ (Electric Vehicle Arteries) in Italy and Austria. In both countries the 50 kW multi-chargers now add up to 400 charging points for all kinds of electric cars.

Maine uses VW’s penalty funds for EV subsidies

The US state of Maine won a $5.1 million legal settlement against the Volkswagen Group for violating state environmental laws and emissions through their marketing and sales of light vehicles in 2017. The funds are now to be used to fund the procurement of BEVs and PHEVs.

VW-SAIC reveal first MEB models for China

Volkswagen plans to produce three electric models based on the MEB modular electrification system together with its China partner SAIC at the new plant in Anting near Shanghai. An internal report specifying two of the three models has been unearthed.
