Columbus is U.S.’ smartest city: The Ohio city has won the U.S. transportation ministry’s Smart City Challenge. Next to 40m dollars in funding for i.e. self-driving vehicles, Columbus gets another 10m dollars to push electric mobility (we reported). Companies will invest another 90m dollars.

Brussels without e-power: car2go will start its carsharing scheme in the EU’s capital in October. 250 Smarts and 50 Mercedes A-series will hit the road there, but unfortunately no electric cars. Even though it would have been nice if especially Brussels could have led with example.

New Jersey plugs in: The U.S. state earmarked 750,000 dollars for subsidies for the installation of more charging stations. Level 1 chargers qualify for up to 250 dollars; level 2 chargers for up to 5,000 dollars.
