China is to introduce EV laws similar to those in California that require carmakers to either build enough EVs or buy credit. Failing CO2 emission targets would result in fines five times the price for credits. Furthermore, the government will phase out subsidies gradually from 2020.

LeEco licence pending: While the EV start-up already announced big plans to build an electric car factory in China for 1.8bn dollars, it turns out that the investment might stand on shaky grounds. LeEco has not got a license to be an EV maker in China but the application is pending.

BMW plug-in pricing: The 2017 BMW 740e xDrive iPerformance will arrive in the U.S. this month. Prices for the plug-in hybrid start at 89,100 plus 995 dollars for handling. The 740e can be driven electrically up to 75 kph and has a range of 14 miles.

SsangYong hybrid SUV? The concept XAV presented at last year’s IAA is to go into production. The SUV will be available by 2019. It sits on the Tivoli platform that allows for various engines. The concept however was a hybrid electric E-4WD system but it is yet to be seen if it makes it into the series.
