Sean Clarke is the principal investigator for the X-57 project at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center, which is looking at how electric propulsion technology can improve an airplane’s performance. The lower weight of the engine would i.e. allow for smaller wings or even multiple engines for better lift off.
