Dynamic induction: Politecnico di Torino will test charging an electric car while in motion and will set up a prototype track at Susa, close to Torino. The POLITO Charge While Driving system is part of the EU project FABRIC (Feasibility analysis and development of on-road Charging solutions for future electric vehicles) that recently saw Qualcomm proving its Halo system’s dynamic charging abilities at 20 kW.

Induction ahead: Continental got yet more innovation in store after it presented the AllCharge yesterday. Next up is inductive charging at 11 kW and the solution entails automated vehicle positioning, electronic communication, charging management, safety monitoring and data retrieval. A demo vehicle is ready for the Conti Tech Show and IAA.

Induction on a smaller scale comes from Canada where Daymak readies the EC1 carbon e-bike in a limited edition which will include inductive charging. Daymak developed a solar charging station and plans to install it at dealers first before the solution may serve pedelec sharing systems.

Electric ferry: Norwegian ferry operator Fjord1 has asked shipbuilder Fjellstrand to design an all-electric ferry. Build from alloy as a catamaran it will be equipped for both higher speed and longer range than previous models. For Fjord1 it is not the first electric ferry as two are under construction.
