Graphite for German Gigafactory: The consortium Terra E has chosen Australian Magnis Resources to supply raw materials for the planned battery facility. TerraE plans to build 34GWh of production capacity at two locations in Germany with the first stage of production to commence in late 2019.

BMW battery for off-road vehicle: BMW is slowly turning into a battery supplier with Dannar asking BMW i to deliver powerpacks to be used in its so-called Mobile Power Station. The batteries are the same as in the i3 but here will serve in an electric heavy-duty vehicle for infrastructure maintenance and disaster response.,

Magnesium battery: Researchers at the University of Houston have developed a new design for the cathode in magnesium batteries. Capacity increased through inserting magnesium monochloride into a host without breaking the magnesium-chloride bond.

CO2 neutral vessel: The MS Innogy is Germany’s first ship for passengers to be powered by a methanol fuel cell. Conceived by utility Innogy, the vessel is climate-neutral with the methanol generated from a hydroelectric plant to then drive the motor.
