Mack plans plug-in hybrid truck for eHighways

US commercial vehicle manufacturer Mack Trucks has introduced the prototype for a new heavy-load truck with a plug-in hybrid system called the Mack Pinnacle DayCab model.

The truck has been demonstrated on the recently opened test eHighway with an overhead catenary system in California between the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Thanks to a collector, the vehicle is able to connect to the contact lines and thus charge energy. Further technical details about the truck have not yet been provided.
