Westminster’s very own tiny diesel-gate

The UK government is doing almost nothing to lead by example as most of the ministerial fleet not only runs on petrol but half of the cars even run on diesel. EVs remain a tiny minority.

A Freedom of Information investigation by Car Dealer Magazine found that of the government’s pool of 84 ministerial vehicles, 49 are still diesel-powered. This is curious given that the same government wants to introduce new taxation designed to penalise diesel drivers.

The fleet of diesel guzzlers include the car of Prime Minister May. It is thus with little surprise that electric vehicles are a rarity among Members of Parliament with six lonely Leaf in a pool of 84 ministerial sharks, sorry, cars.
