New Flyer is working hard to deliver another 100 hybrid buses for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). It is the third instalment of a five-year contract. Once fulfilled, SEPTA’s fleet will be 95% electrified.

The total order is for a total of 525 buses of the type Xcelsior diesel-electric hybrid and has been approved by SEPTA in May 2016 (we reported). The hybrid buses will be deployed in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, supporting four million people living in and around southeastern Pennsylvania.

The “mega deal” for New Flyer has seen the company build and deliver over a hundred hybrid buses each year. The order shall be completed by 2021.
