Norma Group say they secured a major order from China. The German firm will provide about 40,000 cooling systems a year from 2019 throughout 2023 to what they describe as a leading Chinese new energy vehicle maker.

The integrated systems optimise temperature control of the battery and the drive system. In total, up to 200,000 battery electric vehicles will be equipped with the custom-made systems supplied as part of this large order from an undisclosed client.

Says Bernd Kleinhens, Chairman of the Management Board of Norma: “In close cooperation with the customer, we have developed a tailor-made solution that exactly meets their requirements.”

The thermal management systems consist of thermoplastic hoses and more than two dozen connectors. The use of thermoplastics make these around 65 percent lighter than systems with rubber hoses.

The Norma production facility in Qingdao, China will produce the cooling systems. It is one of four factories the company operates in the country next to two test laboratories and two sales offices in China. This local presence enables Norma to engage with clients throughout development as well as testing and validation.
