Volkswagen has founded another subsidiary after Electrify America to construct an EV charging network in Canada. The company is called Electrify Canada and will set up a DC charging network that will include high power chargers.

The charging network is planned to go live in the second quarter of 2019. For starters, a network of 32 charging stations will be set up near highways and in metropolitan areas around British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec with four charge points and performance between 50 and 350 kW, on average.

Daniel Weissland, CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this service and to take a leadership position in providing this key EV adoption enabler to the Canadian market.”
