Restraining order for Tesla

Once again Tesla is caught up in the dealings of speculative short sellers banking on short-term profits. The short sellers are said to have discussed deliberately causing collisions to discredit the EV maker. Tesla also obtained an injunction against a short seller who apparently harassed and stalked employees.

The court found that the account had “engaged in a pattern of harassment and stalking of Tesla property and employees “, granting Tesla the temporary restraining order. Following the publication of photos of a Tesla Model 3 filming for a self driving demo, which was followed up by a discussion of how this could possibly be sabotaged. The account is reportedly run by a man whose brother works for the VW advance research center in California, making the motive here somewhat clearer. The filing was only directed at the individual not employed by VW, which makes Elon Musks response somewhat forward following the exchange.
