The all-electric DS 3 Crossback E-Tense can now be reserved in Great Britain. Prices start at 32,350 pounds (incl. 3,500 pounds for plug-in car grant). PSA’s premium brand also revealed details on charging options.
The compact SUV is the first all-electric car that DS designed from the ground up and this BEV has a potential range of 200 miles (certified on the WLTP drive cycle, or 267 miles on the NEDC drive cycle). The electric drivetrain of DS 3 Crossback E-Tense has a 100kW (136hp) electric motor with 260Nm of torque, linked to a 50kWh Lithium-ion battery and a system for recovering energy during deceleration and braking. PSA’s premium brand says that acceleration from 0 to 30mph is possible in 3.3 seconds.
When the DS 3 was first announced in September last year, very few details were given about the BEV’s charging abilities. Now DS Automobiles has revealed that a connected smart wall box (single phase), can enable a 100% battery charge in 8 hours or at a standard public terminal in around 5 hours. The fully-electric crossover also carries a high-capacity onboard charger, available as single phase (7kW) or three phases (11kW) and offers several charging options. Since single phase infrastructure is standard in the UK, the single phase (7kW) onboard charger will be the standard offering for the UK market.
A heat pump with reduced electrical consumption optimises thermal comfort in the passenger compartment without affecting battery temperature control. Rémi Seimpère DS 3 Crossback E-Tense project director says that “such control also lets us offer an attractive battery warranty: eight years or 100,000 miles”.
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is the first all-electric vehicle designed in full by brand. DS Automobiles launched in 2015 as the PSA Group’s Premium brand.
Yves Bonnefont, CEO of DS Automobiles asserts that “from this year onwards, each of our models will be offered with an E-Tense, BEV or PHEV, version, which uses energy in the most efficient way supplemented by regenerating energy during deceleration. DS 3 Crossback E-Tense and DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4×4 are the realisations of our electrification strategy with no compromise in space, while unparalleled in style and comfort.”
Reservations are now opening ahead of formal ordering and deliveries are due to start from January 2020.
