Even EVs have trouble leaving oil behind

It turns out that from Renault’s Zoe delivery to Australia, more than 90% of the vehicles were damaged in transit due to an oil spill on the transport vessel. It seems that the road to electrification is slippery indeed.

The report cites that as few as five of the vehicles made it to Australia unharmed, which means Renault will have to reassess their roll-out strategy for Down Under. Renault Australia boss Anouk Poelmann said that the vehicles were to undergo inspection before the next moves will be made: “All affected vehicles will undergo a full inspection, and it is our commitment that no single vehicle will be released to our dealer network unless we are 100 per cent satisfied that there is no impact on the exterior, interior or future reliability of the vehicle.”
