The Canadian arm of Volkswagen’s dieselgate subsidiary Electrify America is set to expand its nation-wide EV charging network with over 20 installations planned to roll out at select Canadian Tire retail locations across Canada.

The planned charging stations at all Electrify Canada locations will offer the liquid cooled-cable for 150 to 350-kilowatt high charging speeds for both CCS and CHAdeMO compatible electric cars.

Through the new partnership with the retailer, Electrify America will eventually get access to Canadian Tire locations in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec. Rob Barrosa, Chief Operating Officer of Electrify Canada, called the collaboration “a natural fit”. His counterpart, Andrew Davies, Senior Vice President, Automotive, Canadian Tire, stressed the company’s presence from coast to coast in Canda.

Electrify Canada was established in 2018. Recently the Canadian arm of Volkswagen’s dieselgate subsidiary has broken ground for the construction of the country’s first high power charger from Electrify Canada. It is one of a planned total of 32.

Electrify Canada has not announced specific locations for any of the high power charging station yet.
