The virtual birth of Jaguar’s electric hypercar

Jaguar’s first all-electric sportscar is a slick, mean-looking beast – and only exists in the pixel world through Sony’s legendary racing car video game, Vision Gran Turismo. The virtual EV is designed with three powerful, compact motors producing 1,020PS (750 kW), allowing gamers to feel like they are hurtling from 0-100km/h in less than two seconds.

If it ever gets made, the electric Jaguar supercar wouldn’t be the first car concept to experience a virtual birth before it becomes hardware. Toyota brought its digital creation to the real world in 2014 with the FT-1  and Audi did the same just last year with the e-Tron. The Vision Gran Turismo started in 2013 with the intention of being more than just a game. Sony sees the program as an open call to automakers to design futuristic fast cars without the restrictions of trying to create them in the real world.
