In the UK, Dynamo Motor Company is offering converted electric Maxus e Deliver 3 into a high-roof transporter. The conversion increases the electric van’s available storage space from 4.8 m3 to 6 m3 thanks to 350 mm roof extension.
In converted form, the van can do over 150 real-world city miles’ worth of range (241 kilometres) and a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that can reach 80% charge in 45 minutes on a rapid charger.
Essentially, what Dynamo offers with the conversion, is the same capacity as a long-wheelbase van, only with a short wheel-base, which makes it ideal for city deliveries. Along with the extended roof, the conversion adds taller rear doors.
After conversion, the Maxus e Deliver 3 becomes 4,555 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 2,245 mm tall, so the vehicle still fits in all standard parking bays. Maxus, formerly LDV and a British brand of China’s SAIC, began taking orders for the E Deliver 3, its first compact electric van, in the UK just over a year ago. The conversion service for the Maxus e Deliver 3 is projected to be approximately £4,995 (excl. VAT).
The expansion has been made possible in part by public investment through the Seedrs fundraising platform. The campaign launched on 12 July and has already seen more than £1,650,000 committed of its £2,000,000 target. To get the van out to customers hands, Dynamo has appointed E-Van Guru as its sales and distribution partner.
Just last month, the British Dynamo Motor Company presented its growth plans. The company plans to hire 275 new employees and increase their conversion capacity to 10,000 vehicles annually by 2026. Besides the delivery van conversion, the company is planning a wheelchair accessible vehicle. So far Dynamo Motor is reportedly best known for converting the Nissan e-NV200 Evalia into an electric taxi.
