ABC batteries for 10 k GreenCore charging plazas

In the USA, Advanced Battery Concepts (ABC) is to supply its patented GreenSeal storage batteries to thousands of Solar EV Charging Plazas being installed by GreenCore EV Services across the country.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies, ABC will manufacture and supply the energy storage systems for an estimated 10,000 Solar EV Charging Plazas by the end of 2030.

The batteries that will support the Solar EV Charging Plazas will be lead storage batteries that ABC says recharge twice as fast as standard lead storage batteries. Compared to conventional storage batteries, GreenSeal technology should provide higher power and offer an increased cycle life by about 300 per cent.

The GreenCore CEO went on to explain that advancements in ABC’s ability to recycle and reuse battery components and materials have “significantly” reduced the company’s manufacturing costs as well as related carbon footprint and environmental impacts.

The Solar EV Charging Plazas will be built to accommodate both electric cars and commercial vehicles. GreenCore has a strategy of partnering with retail establishments and property owners for the charging plazas.

On their website, GreenCore claims to be able to build the charging plazas four times faster than is standard owing to the fact that their proprietary “universal” infrastructure system significantly reduces overall project timeline and onsite construction time. As an example, the company explains how it was able to construct a charging plaza in California that consisted of 40 DC Fast chargers, large solar canopies and extensive energy storage systems in just over 60 days.

ABC manufactures the lead batteries in Michigan and says it will be installing additional manufacturing capacity to meet the demand for both their GreenSeal batteries as well as other energy storage products. Some of the company’s other products include home emergency energy storage systems, and, for example, licencing its full suite of GreenSeal Bipolar Lead battery technologies to the Bulgarian battery storage company MonBat in 2019.
