Charging infrastructure trouble Down-Under

Australia appears to have a growing number of faulty charging stations for electric cars. Most of these are due to a lack of spare parts or slow maintenance, but some are also broken due to flooding.

Problems seem to be worst in the EV charging network around Queensland, while the Tesla-operated network outside of the state seems to be in slightly better shape. In Queensland, more than 40 stations have been counted as out-of-order. Another part of the issue is that the technical problems appeared at the same time as the prices increased for their use, which has understandably frustrated Australian EV drivers.

“When the prices are going up and the serviceability has gone down, one must question what is behind all of this,” wrote a frustrated driver on one EV owners’ forum.
