UFODrive offers subscription model

In Europe and the UK, the exclusively electric car rental company UFODrive has introduced a new subscription service. The offer is designed to combine customer demand for longer-term rental contracts and flexible alternatives to leasing.

The elecric car subscription is now available in UFODrive‘s European markets, including the UK. The subscription offer will also become part of the offering in the US in the first quarter of 2023.

While details of the US offer will first be available at a later date, subscription customers in the UK and Europe will be able to access the same services as for vehicle rentals. The UFODrive subscription will be available across eight countries, including the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Germany.

UFODrive says that its customers will have 24/7 access to UFODrive experts, who will monitor charging status, book the best available charging station, and assist drivers to find and access their cars even when they have lost their keys.

The company has not yet revealed exact models and prices for subscriptions since this will depend on the fleets of each “UFOBay”, as the company calls its locations. Examples given for London include, for example, the Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model Y, Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-tron “and more”.

UFODrive’s expansion in Europe and the US was made possible by 19 million US dollars raised in spring this year. The main investors were the car rental company Hertz and the private equity firm Certares. Hertz will be using UFODrive’s digital rental and fleet management technology to operate its global electric car fleet.

“We’re not expecting subscription to fundamentally change car ownership,” says Aidan McClean, “but we hope it will reward our most loyal customers and give anyone who wants to go electric another seamless way to find out why EVs are better, and EVs with UFODrive are the best.”
