ICEing is now punishable by fine in Australia

Those who park at charging stations in Australia can now expect severe penalties in four Australian states and regions. The fines range from AUD 369 (€230) to 3,200 dollars (€2,000). Incidentally, the penalties apply to internal combustion vehicles blocking charge spots and electric cars parked there without charging.

“To make sure we keep the community moving forward, we want electric vehicle drivers to have access to charging stations when they are on offer,” said New South Wales metropolitan roads minister, Natalie Ward. “No one would like it if I parked my vehicle in front of a fuel bowser and walked inside and ordered lunch,” added Australian Electric Vehicle Association national president, Chris Jones.
