Terberg secures eCollects order from Westminster City Council
It is the largest single order for electric refuse collection vehicles in the UK to date. Westminster City Council has ordered 40 eCollect from Dennis Eagle, part of the Terberg Environmental Group.
According to the company’s press release, Veolia will operate the vehicles in partnership with Westminster Council. The order comes after the city tested the zero-emission refuse collection vehicles (RCV) last year.
“Air quality has consistently been one of the main concerns among our residents and the council is taking action to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality across the city,” says Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Cabinet Member for City Management. “This new collection of zero-emissions collection vehicles, the largest single order in the UK, will help us achieve our goal of a Net Zero Westminster by 2040.”
The press release does not mention when the electric waste trucks will be delivered, but that they will be manufactured in Warwick in the UK. The company has production facilities at Warwick and at Blackpool.
