Andrew Cornelia becomes CEO of Mercedes-Benz HPC North America

Andrew Cornelia is the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz HPC North America. The manager will be in charge of launching and operating the fast charging network in North America.

According to Mercedes-Benz, Cornelia has over a decade of experience in the EV and charging business. He previously worked at Tesla, leading Strategic Finance for the global charging network. He also worked at Volta Charging.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to launch and lead the Mercedes-Benz high-power charging network in North America”, says Cornelia. “With our inaugural charging hubs set to open by year’s end, we aim to redefine the charging experience by channelling the renowned quality, reputation, and driver focus that Mercedes-Benz has embodied for well over a century.”

Cornelia is not the only new face on the management board. Christopher Trainor will be responsible for finance. He has been with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA since 2002 and has more than 30 years of experience in cooperate finance.

In January, Mercedes-Benz announced far-reaching plans to build its own high-power charging network in North America, Europe, China and other core markets. In the USA and Canada, Mercedes-Benz HPC North America plans to open around 400 charging hubs with more than 2,500 fast charging points for customers of all brands by the end of this decade.
