Mercedes announces two AWD versions of the EQA

Mercedes-Benz now offers two additional versions of its EQA compact electric vehicle. Following the front-wheel-drive EQA 250 with 140 kW, which has been available for order since February, two all-wheel-drive variants can now also be ordered.

ÜSTRA factory recycles old eCitaro batteries

The partners of the GUW+ model project are dedicated to the re-use of batteries from electric city buses and will now realise a stationary energy storage system in a rectifier substation of the ÜSTRA based on batteries that were previously used in eCitaro city buses.

Mercedes & BMW win Formula E leg in Valencia

Mercedes driver Nyck de Vries and BMW driver Jake Dennis won the two Formula E races in Valencia. Especially the Saturday race with the Mercedes victory caused discussions: Only nine of the 24 cars were scored in the end, as many drivers ran out of energy.

Daimler eCitaro G fitted with better battery

Mercedes is now equipping its eCitaro G electric articulated bus with a more powerful generation of lithium-ion batteries. The first eCitaro G of the new type have been delivered to the ÜSTRA transport company in Hanover as part of a major order for a total of 48 eCitaro.

Mercedes EQB: a compact seven-seater with combi-van qualities

Mercedes has just presented its second compact electric SUV, the EQB, at Auto China in Shanghai. Despite similar technology, Mercedes’ new electric car promises to be more than just an angular version of the EQA. The German carmaker even ascribes the five-or seven-seater the “qualities of a compact estate car”.

The two races on the second weekend of Formula E have produced two new winners this season. Saturday’s race was won by previous champion Jean-Eric Vergne in the DS Techeetah, while on Sunday, Mercedes driver Stoffel Vandoorne crossed the finish line in first place.

Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 59,000 electrified cars in Q1 2021

Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Cars sold around 59,000 electrified cars worldwide in Q1/2021, including more than 16,000 fully electric passenger cars. This corresponded to a share of around ten per cent of total sales; in Europe, the share of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in sales even exceeded 25 per cent.

Shortly before the world premiere on 15 April 2021, Daimler has started battery production for its EV flagship Mercedes EQS. As part of the Untertürkheim site, the Hedelfingen plant section is responsible for battery system production for the EQS, followed by systems for the upcoming EQE model.

Daimler recalls eCitaro buses with solid-state batteries

There are issues with the solid-state battery buses Daimler delivered to the city of Wiesbaden in February. The 21 Mercedes-Benz eCitaros have been out of service for a good two weeks as their batteries are undergoing checks due to an insulation fault that could lead to short circuits.
