GM announces recall for Webasto charging cords in the USA

General Motors is recalling certain Webasto Portable Charging Cords with the part number 24044913 in the US. The potential number of units affected is 9,423, according to the NHTSA.

These charging cords contain incorrect software and may fail to discontinue charging if the ground connection is lost. Consequentially, portable charging cords that lose their ground connection while in use may result in an electric shock.

General Motors has not been subject to as many recalls as other manufacturers have faced, such as Tesla, however, another recall preceded this one last year for GM’s subsidiary Chevrolet, where the Bolt’s battery problems had persisted since 2020.
