Austria: Smatrics EnBW to offer dynamic pricing
The goal is to have at least 600 charging stations by the end of 2025, the charge point operator explains. That means Smatrics EnBW will install at least 200 new fast-chargers this year. These will each offer up to 400 kW.
Initially, Smatrics EnBW installed a minimum of four chargers per location. However, the trend since 2024 has been towards charging parks with at least twelve charging points, the company explains. A number of these locations are already in operation, such as St. Veit and Poggersdorf (Carinthia), St. Pölten (Lower Austria) and Vorchdorf (Upper Austria). Charging hubs in Regau and Suben (Upper Austria), Spielberg (Styria) and Altlengbach (Lower Austria) will follow shortly. These charging hubs are covered and in some cases equipped with solar panels.
However, the biggest change will probably be the CPO’s prices. Starting this year, it will offer dynamic prices per kilowatt hour (kWh). The daily updated prices will be displayed at the location (similar to prices at the petrol station) and in the app.
“The price labelling enables even inexperienced EV drivers to get a quick overview and reduces uncertainty,” says Hauke Hinrichs, COO of Smatrics EnBW.
