Qwello to install AC charging network in Ille-et-Vilaine
At the end of 2024, Qwello announced that it would soon reach the mark of 100 installed charging points in France. The company has now announced that, together with its partner Driveco, it has won a tender for the roll-out of 184 charging points in Brittany – including 150 AC chargers under Qwello’s responsibility. The contractual partner is the Energy Union of Ille-et-Vilaine (‘SDE 35’), a major player in energy issues in the department. As part of the preparatory process, 36 municipalities involved were able to make their own proposals for charging locations. On this basis, a further call for tenders is to follow as early as 2025.
Vincent Briola, General Director of Qwello France, commented: “Our proposal combines Driveco’s expertise in fast charging solutions with Qwello’s advanced technology for standard charging stations, offering a fully financed and user-friendly solution. This partnership aims to promote sustainable mobility and support the regional drive towards a greener future.”
The new locations complement the first 15 Qwello charging points that were opened in France in 2023 along the French Mediterranean coast in Montpellier. The company has commissioned or is commissioning a further 85 charging points in Sèvremont, Bayonne, Clermont-Ferrand (Vulcania), Le Creusot, Caissargues, Livry-Louvercy and Noirmoutier.
In addition to its activities in France, Qwello is also expanding its charging network in Spain and Germany, for example. For Germany, for example, the charging infrastructure operator has announced plans to install 500 charging points in Hamburg. According to the company, it currently operates around 12,000 charging points in almost 300 municipalities in eight European countries.
