Kicking things off, Honda will launch the e:N1 in Malaysia later this year. The carmaker showcased the pure electric small SUV at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show last December, aiming to spark consumer interest early on.

“Aligned with our 2025 business direction, we are set to energise the market with the debut of our first BEV, the e:N1,” said Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura. “It paves the way for our three‑year plan to introduce three new BEV models to the Malaysian market by 2027,” he added.

Honda did not reveal the names or any other details of the other two electric cars it plans to launch in Malaysia by 2027. The company does have the Prologue, which it developed on the same platform as GM’s Chevrolet Blazer EV. However, there is only a left-hand drive variant of the mid-size SUV, which is sold mainly in North America.

Local reports say Honda could launch two 0 Series models following the e:N1 in Malaysia. They are referring to the 0 SUV and 0 Saloon, for which Honda has confirmed both LHD and RHD versions. The company plans to launch the bespoke EVs in North America first, in the first and second half of 2026, respectively, and then in Japan and Europe.

Unlike the potential 0 Series models, Honda will source the smaller and cheaper e:N1 from the ASEAN region. The company manufactures the sub-compact SUV at its Prachinburi plant in Thailand, where it offers the model only through a rental program.

Just days before announcing its plan to introduce three EVs in Malaysia by 2027, Honda launched the e:N1 in Indonesia. Even there, the company offers this model only through a rental program, with a cap of 300 units.

Honda is working on many new EVs with plans to launch them by the end of the decade. The company will introduce seven 0 Series global EVs, ranging from small to mid-size models, by 2030. Additionally, it plans to build a range of three Japan-specific EVs by 2026 and ten China-specific EVs by 2027.
