The San Francisco Bay Area’s first charging hub is based in the city’s Mission District and features twelve 320kW Kempower Satellite chargers. It’s open 24/7 “to any make & model EV,” which is important as San Francisco has one of the highest rates of EV adoption in the US – reportedly making up more than a third of the city’s total vehicle sales for the last two years.

Revel states that this is the first of many new charging hubs it plans to open in the region, with plans to begin construction on similar locations in the city centres of Oakland, San Jose and South Francisco.

At the opening of the hub, Revel COO Paul Suhey said: “At Revel, our goal is to build urban fast charging that all EV drivers can rely on. Why is that important? Well, without widespread access to fast charging, EV adoption will stop. It will slow. Rideshare electrification will stop. It will slow.”

Last week, the firm opened 24 chargers at JFK Airport in New York – while in February, it landed a $60m loan from New York investment fund NY Green Bank to install 267 new fast chargers in the city. 60 of these will be located in Maspeth Queens at what the company claims will be “the largest fast-charging station in the Northeast US”. By the end of the year, Revel hopes to operate 300 chargers in total across the city.
