Harbringers’s new production line is located in Garden Grove, California. There, Harbinger assembles its platforms, which are comprised of a drivetrain, battery system, steering, brakes and more. The company claims it is the only truck manufacturer building drivetrains in-house.

The platform’s scalable chassis architecture is built to support all medium-duty body types, including walk-in commercial vans, box trucks, recreational vehicles and others. The front GAWR options include 3.2 tonnes to 4.08 tonnes, while the rear GAWR can handle between 4.99 tonnes and 7.9 tonnes. The chassis utilises forged steel suspension and frame, as well as steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems to provide flexible driver positioning. It supports a scalable liquid-cooled battery pack which can be increased in 35kWh increments up to a maximum system voltage of 800 VDC. The vehicle’s drive unit is oil-cooled with a lifespan of 450,000 miles for commercial trucks. It is comprised of a 14-pole motor with 330kW of power and output torque of 18,100Nm.

Once the company has assembled its platform chassis, customers then work with third parties to fit a commercial or speciality body to it, enabling a wide variety of medium-sized applications.

“Completing production of 100 chassis is an important achievement for Harbinger,” said John Harris, the company’s CEO and co-founder. “We chose to announce the start of production only after reaching this milestone to highlight that we are producing vehicles at a volume and scale that is truly impactful for our customers and the industry.”

Some of Harbinger’s early customers include RV manufacturer Thor Industries, Bruckner’s Truck, and ETHERO Truck + Energy. It recently announced an order book of 4,690 vehicle orders, valued at approximately $500 million, which the company says will help increase volume production capacity and staff numbers.

“From the moment Harbinger was founded, we took a deliberate approach to building a scalable production foundation,” said Harbinger Chief Production Office Gilbert Passin. “A lot of the experience that helped shape Harbinger’s manufacturing processes came from the experience our team brought from other EV manufacturers and automotive brands. We learned that what didn’t work elsewhere, and we adopted what worked best.”
