G7 Taxi orders 899 EVs from VinFast
The 899 units of the current order are all white-coloured VF 5s, and VinFast plans to fulfil the order by the end of this year. The carmaker says that the model ‘ is especially suitable for urban taxi services thanks to its outstanding advantages in flexible operation and significantly lower operating costs compared to petrol cars of the same price range.’
Placing an order for 899 VF 5s is G7 Taxi’s first step in transitioning from petrol models to electric ones. The company is the largest taxi alliance in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, comprising 16 member companies with a total fleet of 4,000 vehicles.
“For businesses providing transportation services, switching from petrol vehicles to electric vehicles is a practical solution to reduce costs and increase profits; improve service quality for customers, enhance driving experience and work efficiency for drivers; and demonstrate the social responsibility of businesses in protecting the environment and improving the quality of life for the community. We believe that, together with Xanh SM, G7 will bring green, modern and reliable journeys to customers”, said Nguyen Hong Hai, G7 Taxi General Director.
The VF 5 is a small SUV measuring 3,9m in length, 1,7m in width, and 1,6m in height and a wheelbase spanning 2,5m. In Vietnam, VinFast offers it with a 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack, which charges from 10% to 70% in 33 minutes, and an NEDC range of 326.4 km. The battery pack powers a front-mounted motor, which generates 100 kW and 135 Nm of torque, allowing the EV to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 10.9 seconds. VinFast sells the VF 5 to individual customers for a price of 529 million dong (about 18,000 euros).
Following the VF 5, G7 Taxi plans to buy the Limo Green, a new electric MPV VinFast introduced as part of a new ‘Green’ range of EVs for commercial transportation fleets. The Limo Green is 4,7m long, 1,9m wide, and 1,7m high, and has a 2,8m wheelbase. It accommodates up to seven people. VinFast has yet to disclose its battery pack’s energy storage capacity, but it states LFP as its cell chemistry and 470 km as the range, presumably as per NEDC. The company plans to start selling the seven-seat electric model in Vietnam in August, for a price of 749 million dong (approx. 25,500 euros).
In related news, just last month, Vietnamese real estate company First Real Estate announced it will lease 1,000 VinFast EVs from Green Future, a car rental and used car trading company. First Real Estate plans to provide car rental and shuttle services using these EVs in Da Nang, a city in the central part of the country.
