Arabia Taxi adds 269 Tesla cars to its cab fleet in Dubai
The taxi company Arabia Taxi has put 269 Tesla Model 3 in service in Dubai. As reported, Dubai will only permit electrified taxis in the emirate from 2027. Arabia Taxi operates 6,000 vehicles throughout the United Arab Emirates, 83 per cent of which are hybrid taxis.

GSM kicks off Vietnam’s first electric taxi service
Since the end of last week, customers in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, can book the purely electric taxi service Green SM via a nationwide hotline or app. According to the operating company GSM, the service will expand to at least five provinces and cities this year.

Ugandan capital to electrify 140,000 motorcycle taxis
In Uganda’s capital Kampala, 140,000 motorbike taxis with internal combustion engines are to be replaced by purely electric vehicles within five years. This is according to an agreement signed between the government of Uganda and the African eMobility start-up Spiro.

Hamburg to allow e-taxis only from 2025
No new cabs with internal combustion will be allowed to hit the road in Hamburg from 1 January 2025, Hamburg’s transport senator Anjes Tjarks announced. Hamburg is thus the first federal state in Germany to only allow new cabs with alternative drives.

Dubai to allow only electric taxis from 2027
In Dubai, only electrified taxis will be on the road from 2027. This is the plan now adopted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. Currently, 72 per cent of the 11,371 taxis in Dubai are hybrid vehicles.

Swarco eVolt to install chargers for electric cabs in Wales
Swarco eVolt has won a contract to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure to enable taxi drivers in south-east Wales to charge their vehicles. The order came from Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) and covers charging sites across multiple local authorities.
