Birmingham aims to build 394 quick chargers by 2022

The English city of Birmingham has announced the establishment of 394 quick charge points to support the electrification of the taxi fleet. The fast chargers, which are to be installed in Birmingham starting this autumn over the next two years, will not only be accessible to taxis, but also to the public and local businesses.

Inductive charging project starts test phase in Oslo

The EnergiCity project has started the test phase for the contactless charging of electric cabs. In the Norwegian capital Oslo, 25 Jaguar I-Pace will in future be inductively charged in taxi use. The charging capacity is to exceed far that of standard AC charging.

Australian startup H2X to build FCEVs

Seoul ready to subsidise 700 electric taxis

The government of the South Korean capital Seoul is promoting the purchase of 700 electric taxis this year. The subsidy amounts to 18.2 million won (about €13,600) per electric taxi. A new feature is that electric cars from foreign manufacturers are also eligible for funding this year.

UK extends but lowers EV subsidies

The British government has extended its subsidies for electric cars but is again reducing the subsidy amount. For other electric vehicles, such as vans, trucks, taxis or motorcycles, the subsidy has been extended but the subsidy rates remain the same.

Austrian government sets out plan for cleaner transport

Austria aims to decarbonise its transport sector. UK funds wireless charging trial for electric cabs

The British government announces an investment of 3.4 million pounds for tests on wireless charging of electric taxis. Specifically, ten e-taxis from Nissan and LEVC are to be equipped with appropriate hardware and inductively charged in Nottingham for six months.

Singapore to receive 2,000 Ioniq hybrid taxis

Singapore’s largest transport operator ComfortDelgro has ordered 2,000 additional Ioniq hybrid taxis from Hyundai Motor. 1,500 of the hybrid EVs will arrive by the end of this year, with the other 500 planned for delivery at the beginning of 2020.

Hydrogen JV HysetCo launches in Paris region

Air Liquide, Idex, Société du Taxi Électrique Parisien (STEP) and Toyota have launched a joint venture called HysetCo to develop hydrogen mobility in the Paris region. It will also serve Hype, the fleet of fuel cell taxis, launched in 2015 during the COP21 and operated in Paris.
