Zeekr launches 007 estate in China; confirms plans for European export

Zeekr has kicked off sales of its 007 GT in China – the estate version of the all-electric 007 saloon. With demand for estate cars traditionally strong in Europe, a launch on the continent is already planned – under the slightly modified name Zeekr 7 GT.

The 007 GT is Zeekr’s second electric estate model after the 001. While the latter is a premium-class shooting brake with a starting price of 259,000 yuan, the estate derivative of the 007 is positioned more in the mid-range segment. In China, it starts at 202,900 yuan – roughly €24,400 at current exchange rates.

Rumours about an estate version of the 007 had been circulating since last year. Things moved quickly in January: first, Zeekr released a few images of the 007 GT, followed shortly by the publication of technical details through the mandatory regulatory filings in China. According to those documents, the 007 GT is dimensionally almost identical to the saloon, differing only by a few millimetres, but sits about half a class below the Zeekr 001. In fact, the GT is 1 mm shorter and 5 mm lower than the saloon. These small differences could easily be explained by different bumpers or suspension settings – more surprising is the slightly altered wheelbase: 2,925 mm for the 007 GT compared to 2,928 mm for the saloon.

Zeekr will offer the 007 GT in three versions, each with differing powertrains and equipment. Two of them are rear-wheel-drive models, both delivering 310 kW and 440 Nm of torque, while the third features an all-wheel drive with an additional 165 kW front motor. The single-motor variants are said to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 5.3 and 5.2 seconds, respectively, while the dual-motor AWD version is expected to complete the sprint in just 3.8 seconds.

As for the batteries, Zeekr announced two options: an NMC battery using cells from CATL, and an LFP version featuring Zeekr’s own Golden Battery technology. The LFP pack offers 75 kWh for a CLTC range of 650 km, while the CATL unit provides 100 kWh and up to 825 km of range. One of the standout features of the LFP battery is its charging performance: Zeekr claims it can go from 10 to 80 per cent in just 10.5 minutes. Like the 007 saloon, the estate rides on an 800-volt platform and will come with LiDAR as standard.

Zeekr has now officially confirmed that the new shooting brake will be coming to Europe – a logical move, especially since the European launch of the Zeekr 7X is already locked in. Markets such as Germany, the UK and Sweden – all considered traditional strongholds for estates – are expected to be key targets. However, a detailed launch timeline for Europe has yet to be announced.

Zeekr’s decision to double down on estates – despite the industry-wide shift towards SUVs – is likely down to the continued success of the Zeekr 001. Despite being the brand’s very first model, and now technically one of its older offerings, the 001 remained Zeekr’s best-selling vehicle in 2024.
