Milence has just opened its second public charging hub in the Netherlands - with the country's first Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The truck charging hub is located in Zwolle, with direct highway connections to major Dutch cities and German industrial regions.

The truck charging park has nine charging bays in total. Eight of these are set around four covered CCS chargers, with the final bay being powered by a Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The MCS charger can deliver up to 3.75 MW of DC power via a Power Electronics charging tower with 1440kW capacity (up to 1500 Amps, and should enable electric trucks to be charged in 30 to 45 minutes.

The default charging tariff for the CCS and MCS chargers starts at €0,399 per kWh (ex. VAT), meaning the main barrier to using the MCS at the charging hub will simply be availability.

The charging park, located in Zwolle Business Park, also features a number of driver amenities including toilets, showers, a lounge, vending machines and WiFi. It’s gated, with fencing and camera surveillance for security, and Milence stated it will conduct further development to install more chargers and parking bays in future.

The company added that it aims to launch a minimum of 284 MCS points across 71 locations in 10 EU countries by 2027, with the Zwolle hub being the first of a logistics corridor connecting Antwerp with Stockholm.

Anja van Niersen, Milence CEO, said: “With the first green corridors taking shape, the path to sustainable logistics is becoming real. Utilisation is now key. To scale this transformation, we have to start driving electric and we invite transport companies to learn, adapt and grow with us. The transition will not happen overnight, but with each new hub we move closer to a future where road transport is both sustainable and economically viable. Europe’s future depends on it.”
