Philippines inducts a fleet of BYD Dolphin for local police
ACMobility, the official distributor of BYD cars in the Philippines, says Valenzuela has created the country’s largest electric vehicle police fleet with the acquisition of 41 units of BYD Dolphin. The city plans to utilise 35 units for patrolling and law enforcement, five units for government office purposes, and one as a first responder vehicle.
The new EV fleet is part of a “Go Green Valenzuela” programme aimed at adopting eco-friendly and cost-efficient solutions for public service. The city spent 75,768,000 pesos (about 1.2 million euros) on the new project. Meanwhile, to support the growing adoption of EVs in the city, Greenstrum, ACMobility’s EV charging solutions subsidiary, has deployed 15 units of 7 kW AC chargers across 12 locations in the city.
ACMobility says it plans to install public chargers throughout the city, beginning with a 60 kW DC unit at the Alert Station, a government facility dedicated to emergency response and disaster management. The company will allow the general public to access these chargers via the Evro EV charge point aggregator smartphone app available on the App Store and Google Play.
Commenting on the new milestone and progressive clean mobility developments in Valenzuela, Mayor Wes Gatchalian said, “By aiming to be the first LGU in the Philippines with the largest fleet of electric vehicles and the most extensive network of government and public charging stations strategically located in NLEX, in MacArthur, and in Mindanao Avenue, we have become torchbearers of the country.”
The Valenzuela government ordered all 41 units of the BYD Dolphin with the same specifications. Each unit features a 44.9 kWh LFP battery pack that supports charging at up to 6.6 kW (AC)/60 kW (DC) and a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 70 kW and 180 Nm of torque. In this configuration, the electric hatchback can reach a top speed of 130 kph and deliver an NEDC range of 405 km.
