BYD confirms European launch of the Dolphin & Seal
BYD is gearing up to release two more electric models to Europe with the Dolphin and Seal. The Dolphin will be available from June/July and the Seal from August/September. Technical details are now available for both models.

BYD rumoured to be interested in sodium-ion batteries
There are rumours in China that BYD wants to start mass production of sodium-ion batteries for electric cars. Local media report that BYD plans to manufacture them from the second quarter of 2023 and initially use them in some versions of the Qin EV, the Dolphin and the new Seagull model.

BYD plans to hit the Japanese market with 3 BEVs
BYD announced its entry into the passenger vehicle market in Japan debuting three models. The Atto 3 (known as Yuan Plus in China) is expected to go on sale in January. The Dolphin and Seal respectively will be available for purchase in the middle and second half of 2023.

BYD crack 40,000 EVs sold mark in June
BYD’s sales of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles exceeded the 40,000 mark for the first time in June. PHEV sales in particular saw a sharp increase, which is likely to be related to the launch of corresponding vehicles.

‘Dolphin’ to be BYD’s first model on its 800-V platform
BYD has announced that the first model based on its new 800-volt architecture called “e-platform 3.0” will be an electric compact car unveiled in April under the working title EA1. As a production model, the electric car will be named Dolphin.
