VinFast launches small electric cargo van in Vietnam
The EC Van measures 3,8m in length, 1,7m in width, and 1,8m in height and has a 2,5m wheelbase. Its small footprint, along with a short turning radius of 5.1 metres, makes it an ideal choice for congested urban areas, as well as narrow rural roads.
VinFast equipped the EC Van with two front seats, leaving 2,600 litres of cargo space in the windowless back. The company specified that the small electric van can handle payloads of up to 600 kg. The zero-emissions cargo model has an electric motor on the rear axle, producing 30 kW and 110 Nm of torque and giving the vehicle a top speed of 75 kph.
The EC Van features a small battery pack with an energy storage capacity of 17 kWh, and while VinFast has yet to disclose its cell chemistry, all indicators point to LFP. The 17 kWh battery pack supports charging at up to 19.4 kW, and customers can charge it from 10% to 70% as quickly as 42 minutes.
VinFast equips the EC Van with basic features like ABS, EBD, TCS, and ESS and offers air conditioning as an option. The company has set its price at 285 million dong (approximately 9,900 euros) and provides a five-year/130,000 km vehicle warranty and a 7-year/160,000 km battery warranty as standard. It will start accepting orders on 25 May and give customers who place their deposits by 30 May a discount of 10 million dong (approximately 350 euros). It expects to commence customer deliveries in November.
The EC Van is the sixth EV VinFast has launched for service applications in its home market this year. Prior to this small cargo van and the EB 6 small bus this month, the company introduced a ‘Green’ range of passenger vehicles in January. The Green line-up consists of a micro hatchback called ‘Minio,’ ‘Herio’ and ‘Nerio’ SUVs, which are essentially repurposed VF 5 and VF e34, respectively, and a ‘Limo’ MPV.
