Fiat Professional unveils its first electric three-wheeler
It’s the brand’s first all-electric three-wheeler, and is aimed primarily at urban transport for small businesses. The TRIS is designed in Italy at Centro Stile and is built in Morocco, and can be purchased in three versions – namely, flat-bed, pick-up, and chassis-cabin – depending on customer need. The pick-up is designed for everyday transport tasks whereas the other variants can be customised.
Regardless of the variant, the TRIS packs a 90km range (WMTC) into a compact 3.17 metre-long package and features the same 6.9 kWh battery as the Fiat Topolino. Powered by a 48V motor with peak output of 9kW, the TRIS reaches top speeds of 45km/h. It’s got an integrated 220V plug and can be charged using AC, hitting capacity of 80 per cent in 3.5 hours – so while it’s not suited to fast charging, it’s ideal to plug in overnight. In terms of payload capacity, users can load it up with up to 540kg in cargo space of 2.25 m² – roughly enough size for a standard euro pallet. Finally, it’s got a relatively tight 3.05m turning circle, giving added navigability in tight city streets.
Inside the cabin, there’s a 5.7-inch touchscreen as well as LED lighting, reverse buzzer and multiple storage options. Fiat Professional states that TRIS will be able to offer connected services such as fleet management or vehicle tracking, bringing it in line with other Fiat Professional vehicles.
Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Global CMO of Stellantis, said: “As cities grow and the need for clean, accessible transport becomes more urgent, we saw an opportunity to offer something radically simple and profoundly useful. TRIS answers that call—providing independent workers, small businesses, and underserved communities with a cost-effective, zero-emissions tool to move forward.”
Francois added that while the TRIS is debuting in MEA, “Europe may be next”, suggesting an expansion to other regions in future. However, this is yet to be officially confirmed.
