The vision 4rescue is developed specifically for fire & rescue services, and features extensive emergency service styling. This includes a slate-grey chevron pattern on the exterior as well as ‘RESCUE’ and ‘SAPEURS POMPIERS’ (fire services) on the side panels and reflective yellow-red inserts throughout.

A few key modifications have been made to the original Renault 4 E-Tech, including raised ground clearance by 15mm, a second electric motor for AWD, as well as an integrated roof structure built to house both short- and long-range drones. This roof structure also contains equipment for an onboard 5G network, a connected SOS backpack and integrated Wi-Fi mesh technology in order to restore communications networks in disaster scenarios.

The rear of the vehicle opens up into a split boot. The upper section features a sliding desktop with two screens and a high-powered PC, permitting emergency services to quickly establish a mobile command centre to control the observation drone and communicate with their teams on the ground. The lower section of the boot also has two storage boxes designed to hold emergency equipment such as helmets, bags, tablets, handheld radios, and more. Inside, the car houses practical features such as grab handles and specially designed fire-resistant seats made of recycled materials.

In a press release, Renault said: “Featuring nearly 20 interconnected solutions, the ecosystem [of the vehicle] was designed to standardise the different technologies used by the emergency services for a faster and better coordinated response. The demo car serves as a mobile, connected command centre, able to analyse the situation and adapt the response of the emergency services in real time, whatever the circumstances.”

The company added that the Vision 4rescue was built specifically with the Renault 4 E-Tech’s low load sill and flat, rectangular boot in mind, as well as its long tailgate which the company states can provide “protection from the elements when working in front of this mobile command centre.”
